Jamaica and the Cayman Islands have initiated discussions to facilitate collaboration on tourism, in order to leverage the strong historical ties, plus synergies between the tourism sectors of both nations. Among the areas for potential cooperation are multi-destination tourism, airlift, enhancing border protocols, rationalizing airspace as well as resilience building.
TAP Air Portugal experienced a 526% increase in customers carried between Europe and Brazil in the first six months of 2022, compared to the previous year. The Portuguese flag carrier flew more than 640,000 customers on more than 3,100 flights, grabbing nearly a third (28%) of the whole market share of all customers flown between Europe and Brazil.
Vietnam’s tourism sector comes under the spotlight with an key event taking place in Ho Chi Minh City on August 8-9. The event, jointly held by the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association (HTA) and the Vietnam Tourism Association, includes a national travel forum on to develop tourism in Vietnam, business meetings and a gala ceremony.
In a meeting with senior directors and advisors of the Commonwealth Secretariat, Minister of Tourism for Jamaica, Hon Edmund Bartlett called for the use of tourism convergence to reposition the Commonwealth. The Ministerâs call comes as destinations globally continue their recovery efforts from the fallout caused by Covid-19.
